My company is looking to store denatured alcohol (ethanol) in our premises. This is used as a cleaning agent during our production process. We are looking to store 10 litres purely for use in our premises. Is anyone aware if we need to be licensed to store this, and if so, how do we acquire one.
Many Thanks in advance John

Alcohol that has been denatured according to the Denatured Alcohol Regulations 2005 is exempted from excise duty. As far as storage goes then it’s that old thing risk assessment. There is no longer any requirement to licence flammable stores (except petrol retail outlets) unless we move into he realms of COMAH. Definitely not 10 litres.

You'll be needing a bunded flammables store of some sort, the risk assesment will identify that. Be careful to keep even small amounts away from ignition sources. http://www.denios.co.uk is a good place to start but other vendors exist.
