Is it feasible to speak to the person managing the recruitment process for the job? If so, do so, learn their name, build a relationship and address your letter to them by name, referring to your telcon, why you think your move will benefit your organisation. Use any "home" advantage you can possibly gain but beware of transgressing any Equal Ops policies that may be in force. Good luck.
