I'd noticed autumn was slipping into winter too Walker.

I understood it was due out at the end of October, but then I read a news report that Peter Hain had requested a delay to ensure findings of the Gleison Colliery disaster be included.

Sadly, I can't now find the link to the article that I read.

Knew I hadn't imagined it:

However, the Welsh Secretary Cheryl Gillian said the review wasn't going to be delayed.

Curiouser and curiouser!

I've got this vision of Dave Young (in full length leather coat) & henchmen waterboarding the Prof until the "report is written correctly".

I cannot see how the Gleison Colliery incident, tragic though it is, could have any bearing on the outcome of Professor Loftsedt's report. Surely, the two incidents are not related in any way? I suspect if anything it is a stalling tactic to buy some more time.

You refere of course to the date by which the esteemed Professor was to provide the report to his paymaster - who will then decide whether or not to publish.......................

But I thought the Government Minister stated that:

Quote:
...the report was being written and, because it was independent, it would be "inappropriate" for ministers to delay its publication.

Ron, are you suggesting that when faced with evidence that conflicts with political dogma, a Minister may behave "inappropriately"?

In this day and age Yossarian? Surely not!
No doubt any delay in publication would be attributed to something other than Ministerial intervention............

My hunch is that the balance of this report is not one our PM was possibly seeking and with the current H&S phobic press that we currently have it may be a difficult one to publish with a positive political spin.

I may of course be completely wrong!
