Hi all, I've recently graduated with a Bsc. in Enviro H&S Management. I come from a construction background (9 years a plasterer) but am keen to keep away from that end of things. I would love to pursue a career in Environmental management but can't seem to find any openings. Does anyone have any career advice, follow on courses I should do etc. I've offered my services free of charge to get some experience but no joy. I have been thinking of doing noise/gas/vibration/ air quality monitoring courses to make get my foot in the door but they are expensive. All ideas, comments, views welcome. I'm based in Ireland by the way if anyone has any openings!!!

Might want to try someone like Castle a call and get to speak to their MD - Simon Bird (I think). They may be interested in utilising a 'sales' specialist for both training and consultancy. The noise, air quality and vibration are all key aspects of the BSc, but what of the Health & Safety elements?
Look at Health & Safety first, given this is a H&S forum and not the Environmental aspects. Whilst many of us have environmental issues associated with our roles, it is not a specific of this platform.
Hope all goes well.

I agree with Waz. Health and Safety is a far larger industry than that of the Environmental sector. Once you have gained experience within the Health and Safety sector, you could look into the Environmental sector specifically, and have far greater success. At the moment, it seems you are limiting your career opportunities.

Some companies, 3M, Castle, ABB, IChemE etc. do FREE webinars, seminars, lunch and learns and other training. Perhaps not formal qualifications but definately worth considering especially if your on a budget, also good for networking and keeping up to speed with current issues and potential future skills gaps job opportunities.
