We are moving into new premises that have a history of electrical problems, we have been re-assured that there is not a problem any more as the landlord is going to give us some of his supply, it is a 22 story tower with full occupancy which it will be of 2700, the sub station has 2 x 500kva transformers.
I have limited electrical knowledge and am unsure that this will be enough to support all the electrical supply needed, any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I am not an electrical expert. However,
firstly are you taking over the whole building?
Do you know what the supply is to each floor?
Have you ascertained what your requirements are on each floor?
When you say the landlord will give you some of his supply - is the necessary hardware in place or will you have to foot the bill (usually expensive)?
It sounds like you need the assistance of an electrical consultant to look over the building, the supply and your consumption needs.

Ask for a copy of the most recent electrical test and inspection certificate (and schedules, if any) for the fixed installation and take these to an indendent contractor for opinion?

You have had some good advice, though I doubt that you will find many small electrical contractors with the competence to advise on large scale commercial developments.
The landlord "should" be having a PIR done before you move in, the results of which "should" really be made available to you for your liability.
Mind if you are not moving in until after 1/1/12 then you will need and EICR not a PIR.
You will probably need a consultant, and to be honest the information that you have given, and not necessarily your fault is not sufficient to give firm advice.
There are a few questions following that will help to formulate some ideas, which in the end may help.
You have 1MVA available, will you be taking the full occupancy?
What of the landlords supply will he be giving you?
How is the internal distribution set up?
Are the 2x500kVA transformers on side?
What is the available capacity per floor?
What are the installed circuits on each floor?

I agree with Paul, there is some good advice given and Paul has pretty much hit all the key points.
What previous history of electrical problems was the building subjected to. Do you know what the buildings previous use was!
Have you checked with the supply authority / distributor for the building if they have any history or problems that may have recorded by them, you have a right to any such information under The Electricity Safety, Quality and Continuity Regulations 2002.

Some really good info has been provided here so please take the advice
Additionally when taking over such premises you need as much history about its past as possible especially about environmental areas as once you 'control' the premises you can become responsible for env areas 'that you did not/do not create' and you will have to deal with any problems thereafter
