I have read that the consultation period ended on the 14th October 2011 and that it's estimated that HSE charges could be introduced by April 2012. What is the state of play at the moment?

Wait and see! The consultation as you say has finished, the HSE will have to review that consultation and then put forward a firm proposal. I dont know if that will require ministers/government to agree i am not totaly clear how the HSE can recover costs outside a court of Law as i dont see any provision for it within HASAW. Brian

Thanks Brian, have the HSE given a date when they will have completed the review of the consultation? (even a rough date, early 2012)

The HSE has already begun a 'dry run' as they are calling it in various parts of the country. This dry run will apparently last until December 9th. No doubt it will provide clear evidence that we really needn't worry our pretty little heads about it all!

Martin I believe if the proposals are "ratified" or what ever the process is they need to go through to allow the HSE to charge then the proposal is for that to start in April 2012. As for the "dry run" I believe that is happening here in Yorkshire, but my understanding is that no actual bills will be sent out that the HSE is just testing there administration abilities to be able to do this once/if cost recovery happens.
