Do you need qualifications for Australia....

When I went there last, there the Customs officer asked me "if I had a criminal record..!!"

My reply was........." I didn't realise you still needed one to get in anymore...!!!"

Sorry.........couldn't help it!!!!

PG,

If there is an IOSH Branch in Aus, it might be worth tabling the question there? They may also give you some meaningful advice.

I work as an OHS Manager in the mining/manufacturing industry in Western Australia.

Yes, a Postgraduate Certificate in Occ. Health and Safety Management from a UK university is recognised by employers in Australia. I recently hired an employee with a UK Postgraduate Diploma in OHS.

In my opinion there is little value in undertaking the Australian Certificate IV in OHS if you have a more comprehensive tertiary qualification. However, I would recommend enrolling in a OHS law unit at an Australian university, so as to gain familiarity with Australian OHS law.

Best regards,

Andrew

Hi Andrew, I'm currently studying a NEBOSH Diploma, I have also completed an IOSH managing safely course and a NEBOSH general certificate. Are these recognised in Australia? If not would it be worth studying an open university course for the Australian Certificate IV which can be taken online? My family and I are looking to apply for a VISA under my previous trade which is on the SOL but I would like to progress into a Health and Safety advisory role once in Australia. Any help would be much appreciated. Regards, Shaun.
