Good evening everyone,

I would be grateful if you could give me an answer this question.

I've been looking through The Control of Asbestos Regulations and the Approved Code of Practice to see what the requirements are to provide asbestos awareness training.

I've read in the past that training instructors must have at least 6 years practical experience buy I cannot find any reference to this.

Can you help with this and point me in to the right direction where it is defined.

Barney

UKATA merely require 3 years or H&S trained person with additional asbestos specific qualifications such as BOHS for the awareness category. Do not know where you got 6 years.

Mind you there is also the direct need for a trainer CV and many I think founder on their practical experience.

Is this a legal requirement or an industry standard?

Barney,

The subject Asbestos Awareness Training was thrashed out on this forum in two recent threads

http://forum.iosh.co.uk/...spx?g=posts&t=102696

and

http://forum.iosh.co.uk/...spx?g=posts&t=102934

If it's just for "employees whose work could foreseeably expose them to asbestos" and who would stop work immediately on encountering suspect material, then in the ACoP L143 the applicable paragraphs are 124a, 126, 127
