The Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 are a bit of a heavy read on a Friday afternoon.
Can somebody enlighten me on the frequency of examination of an industrial coffee machine and whether there is a requirement for the machine to be serviced at the same time as the examination? If I understand correctly it would need the examiner and service engineer to attend at the same time.

Don't forget the frequency of testing etc needs marking on the machine. You might need a really good sign for this.

the period of inspection should be determined by the "competent person" unlike LOLAR etc I don't believe the regs have any stipulated/suggested period. The competent person should also tell you what is actually being examined and this will be things like safety valves etc, so I don't believe that the serviced at the same time. The equipment may need more servicing than examining. However there is no reason as to why both cannot be combined. Once a scheme of examination has been drawn up the service engineer may be competent to do both at once.

As has been said, frequency is determined by the competent person, no fixed rules.

The ones I have come across are inspected on an annual basis. They need to be dismantled for the inspection, so the service engineer needs to be there, but we do not have the service engineer doing the inspection as well as the service. Only the coffee machines that dispense steam need to have a written scheme. Those that generate steam can be dangerous. See this article http://www.dailymail.co....osion-injures-7-caf.html
