Our Operatives use Stihl saws to cut breeze blocks, piping etc and use grinders on a regular basis that obviously produce sparks. Face masks and safety glasses/goggles are used in combination to combat the risks, however when these two pieces of PPE are used together, operatives have been complaining of the glasses/goggles steaming up, creating poor visibility. To combat this the operative will either take off the eye protection or take the face mask to one side, thus leaving them exposed to injury. Anyone have any solutions to this problem or know a manufacturer that produce suitable PPE that stop the steaming of glasses when used with RPE. Thanks.

bilbo's solution is best, but what about face shields As a prescription glasses wearer I find a face sheild far better than goggles It also gives added protection to the rest of the face

bilbo has one answer but you will still need eye protection as well. See HSE website for information re Silica. Walker's face shields may be the answer, I have one built in to my hard hat and it works for me.

If you are cutting blocks that will release silica dust FFP3 masks will need to be worn. One reason that googles steam up is poor fitting dust masks. Face fit testing should remedy this. Regards Yul
