When selecting contractors and suppliers the main driver is cost. I would like to change this and add a questionnaire for all new contractors/suppliers to question their safety credibility; ideally I would also like to include Environmental questions.

I have had a lot of opposition regarding this (recession, golf etc) and was hoping that some of you could share your HS &E selection criteria for new contractors/suppliers. It would also be helpful if I could have a copy of a questionnaire please?

Ellwood. You could start by asking the supplier if they have been third party assessed by an SSIP member (www.ssip.org.uk). Doing it this way reduces the duplication in H&S pre-qualification that goes on.
