I am currently undertaking a complete review of our Company's Safety Management System (20 elements/Framework for Managing OHS), including a set of expected outcomes. The second aspect of this is to review and revise our current Audit tool which is based upon the outcomes of the safety Management system. I would like to view other options and would be interested in alternative/different approaches from other businesses. Modern, fresh & up to date. If anyone is willing to share their systems with me that would be much appreciated. I would be happy to share our current systems in response. Many thanks. Morning Nigel, Have you thought about using the OHSAS 18001 standard as a toolkit to set the framework around ? Your company may not wish to seek certification to the standard, however it is a good place to start and is aimed at providing a management system which encourages continuous improvement. Best wishes Roger Dickinson info@coastriskmanagement.co.uk

I only use an auditing system that relates to all the tasks and activities that we carry out on site, together with some management procedures (like work planning). I use a scoring system in each category on a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being excellent). Each site supervisor is audited during on site activities, trends are monitored and I tie this in with both our Supervisor Health and Safety Meetings, our Health and Safety Management meetings and employee appraisals. Action points are raised, and actioned as appropriate (if not already attended to on site) as a way of improving our performance so it can be measured.
