My boss has suggested that, following the Lofsted report, we take out our DSE procedure safe in the knowledge that it will never come back to bite us on the botrtom.
Any thoughts?

I personally thinik you're jumping the gun.
I have had to follow up complaints by 2 employees in the last 3 months regarding pains and aches whilst using DSE in an office environment.
Both are now fine.

I don't recall that Professor Lofstedt's report included the abolition of the DSE Regs?

My question would be, what is the upside to removing the procedure? Is it all that cumbersome? If so, you could look at streamlining it to make it more efficient and work-friendly.

It does say this though.
"However, there is also evidence to suggest that some elements of the regulations create burdens on business without any significant benefit to health and safety outcomes. I haven’t fully absorbed the report yet, but ‘here’s the thing’. A number of regs, including I believe DSE result from an EU directive. I can’t see that any of the regs, in particular those originating from EU directives are likely to be significantly changed or repealed in any short order.

Bosses make many suggestions and have many ideas. Next week, they often have different suggestions and ideas, and have forgotten about the ones they came up with last week.
Take no action. If pressed, tell your Boss you'll make sure this is included as an agenda item at the next employee consultation forum, which he will of course speak to..................

I thoroughly recommend the 'Dilbert' on-line strips as a source of inspiration for such matters.
On a similar note, if you have a good idea or initiative that you really, really want taken forward, your first task is to convince your Boss that this was actually his idea........and then you run with it!
