Having recently been involved in an investigation of an incident in St Helier, Jersey. It was identified that the reporting of serious incidents was unclear as to who is the controlling agency, some believe that the HSE in the UK is responsible and others the Jersey Safety Council?
Can anyone clarify this information??

Hi Mark.

Jersey Safety Council is our equivalent of an IOSH Branch.

MB1 is corect that the HSI are the enforcing authority in Jersey, and the UK's HSE have no jurisdiction in the Channel Islands although they are often consulted on serious incidents.

With regards toreporting of incidents, there is no legal requirement (RIDDOR) or otherwise to report incidents to the HSI. If an ambulance is called to site then they automatically attend.
