Hi does anyone know if there are any statutory inspections required for burning equipment or if there is an ACOP or guidanced doc on inspection frequency. Thanks for any help which can be offered.
Regards,

Are you using your oxy/fuel gas cutting equipment in arduous conditions?
How often are you using it? Do your workers take care of the equipment?
Risk assess-visually inspect-use leak detector spray
The BCGA association give guidance on the length of time you should keep the hoses flash backs etc (5 years I believe) but it all depends upon the treatment that you are giving your equipment.
Our hoses will not last 2 years in a heavy fab shop environment.
Don't rely upon recommendations....if its in poor condition REPLACE IT.

I spoke to BOC, they said a 12 month inspection is recommended as a minimum and replace all burning equipment every 5 years*, they take care of botle inspections under DSEAR. They also do a service to check the equipment but I think we can do it in house.
Prob will set up a job card with 6 monthly inspections 5 year mandatory replacement if not required sooner by risk assessment.
Cheers Guru and Phil, your help is appreciated.

* The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA’s) Code of Practice 7 (CP7) – the safe use of oxy-fuel gas equipment – recommends that equipment is checked annually and replaced every five years. This is mandatory under the Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR). This is endorsed by the HSE.
