Hello,

wondering if anyone can supply or locate the following:
1. structure showing how CDM-C feeds into other duty holders, or just a good organisational structure for project.

2. Flowdiagram showing the CDM Co-ordinator's deliverables, preferably a project stage basis but not essential.

a big ask but would be grateful if anyone with the information to hand could help .

thanks.

I am not being funny in any way but if you create your own flow diagrams etc. you will get to know the law better yourself and that is what I would advse that U do

Graham,

There are a number of ways that you could model the CDM process depending upon your organisation’s role and philosophy in undertaking this which is why the HSE have not published one in their ACOP.

Thanks all.

I'm fully aware of the workings of the CDM Regs and that it can be "different strokes" depending on the organisation. I was looking for a diagram to put simplify things so that I dont have to ask the new French-Canadian in my department to read the ACoP!
Maybe that would be the better option though, given the disregard of many designers who report to him.

Surely the QA system which your designers work to should already the requirements of CDM built in. This is something that we specifically look for during procurement as you will be amazed at the number of ISO 9001 certification bodies who fail to pick this up!

If the QA system does not deal with the requirements of Regulation 11, then surely that is Major None Conformity?

newly established public sector body undertaking in-house design work. QA procedures are limited and fail to identify much if anything in relation to CDM, that's my job. We'd fail a competency assessment if we did on on ourselves, no doubt about that. to start with I must explain CDM to the new general manager!

Graham

In addition to the CDM ACoP there is also industry and HSE produced Guidance which is structured by duty holder, with a number of annexes which apply to all duty holders.

The CDM-C guidance contains a flowchart. All guides are free to download on the CITB-ConstructionSkills webiste.
