I have been invited to deliver a talk next week at a local Business Group and thought that as the seasonal spirit is likely to be quite evident I would attempt to be humourous and structure the talk around some Christmas song titles and related hazards. This is what I have so far come up with. Blue Christmas/Frosty The Snowman: Cold work Do You Hear What I Hear/Silent Night/Ding Dong Merrily On High: Noise White Christmas: Slips and falls Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas: Alcohol at work Mistletoe and Wine : Hazardous substances Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire: Fire I Saw Three Ships: Work at Height/Flood Sleigh Ride: Driver competence 12 Days Of Christmas: Working Time Away In A Manger: Zoonoses Lonely This Christmas: Lone Working Other contributions gratefully accepted, particularly if they include bad puns.

Once got back after the Christmas break to discover an anonymous near miss filled out by one of the shift lads. It reported that he had almost been struck by a falling present on the at 12pm on the 24th of December. Contributory factors were excessive workload, rushing, exceeding vehicles maximum capacity and probably driving under the influence of lots of sherry.

Yes, funny ha ha guys. Every time you post I get an email alert, only to find that I've been hit by Ken Dodd's tickling stick again. Surprisingly this was actually a serious posting. At least try to come up with some suggestions (thanks SHE Andy & Safety Smurf). Maybe tomorrow will produce a better response.
