What are your Health and Safety New Years Resolution!

On the basis that the average New Years Resolution lasts approximately one week (Daily Mail) What are IOSH Members prepared to post as their new years resolution to improve safety in their workplace? Trying a new incentive? Rvamping an old one, Raising standards? New ways of engaging people? To start us off My new years resolution is to hold a Safety Day off site for senior managers to work on Governance and the consequences of a serious accident on the bottom line and corporate image.

Mine is to make the world a safer place, to have no accidents or injuries, to have soft music playing in the background to take away stress, for everyone to sleep every hour for an hour each day at work to help them relax and stay focused, to risk assess everything so we don't allow people to take responsibility for their actions or rely on common sense, not to read the daily mail, to always have a positive outlook on the role I do or I might just stick to 'not to respond to any silly postings on the discussion pages' Have a nice Christmas and a safe new year.

In 2012 I will get a job on a certain well-known national tabloid, as "Chief Correspondent on health and Safety Stories". Much easier than having a proper job, and probably better paid than what I do now.

I plan to submit an accident report after falling off my chair laughing at accident reports. To misquote Sutton Borough Council: "the ingenuity of people in finding ways of doing mischief to themselves should never be underestimated"! Have a good one!
