Hope someone maybe able to help I have an interview lined up the scenerio is that the health and safety is not taken seriously they have a few sites around the UK.No accidents.
A new safety system is being compiled.
The question is what would you do in your first three months of employement to ensure a successful implementation of the new system and to embed new systems and processes.
Explain human factors reducing errors and influencing safety Behaviour.
Max of ten slides ,twenty minute slot.
Any suggestions please

If it was me i would firstly look at why Health and safety was not being taken seriously? I look at the Health and Safety Forums available and how successful they are. You would probably need to do a gap analysis and establish were improvements are needed. Maybe talking to the management and establishing why this is so, Is Health and Safety being led by Management ? Usually this is the cause, also look at training, Health and Safety awareness on site, I think they are really looking for auditing ability and analysis of the situation.

Explain the benefits of a new system & culture, place higher values on H&S, removing obstacles & frustrations in peoples work, makes communication easier, encourages better interventions, creates a smoother operational process, helps people understand what is expected and who is responsible for what, ensures standardisation throughout the work place, promotes employee satisfaction.... The list is endless but only works through consultation with the work force.
Dont preach Safety at them but with them!
