With so many colleagues struggling to find employment could IOSH not rethink their policy and have a section for members which will allow members to advertise their availability for employment and other members could contact them if they know of any vacancies, thereby keeping recruitment agencies out of the loop. Surely the forum is here to help members in a positive way. SBH

That would be nice Another 18 emails & hard copies of CV s sent out today alone . he he he I could be going for a world record I reckon. You know I speak to some agencies and I swear they do not understand what they are after themselves ( sorry ) . All I may add well within my remit , although you would think 20 years on the sites and getting close to my diploma and have construction cert and other bits and pieces . A grand total of 1 interview out of probably 300 applications .and you never guess what, travelled 200 mile round trip and they go and offer the role in house I found out later . I do believe some companies are missing the some tricks . arrrrgghhhh oh well keep the chins up guys joe

SBH - that facility already exists. There is no restriction on people advertising their availability for work on this forum. People who know of vacancies can contact them by PM. What is not permitted is posting information about vacancies direct to the forum, as that would be advertising. That is why job-seekers' posts are routinely locked, with an invitation for people to use the PM service. Moderating team

Most of the jobs go inhouse, but they have to advertise, something will turn up, there are jobs on the agency websites, good luck

Joebaxil You are definitely persistant in your search for employment! That elusive role will come along when you least expect it. Have you considered reviewing your CV to make it stand out to prospective employers? Its all very well someone copying parts of their job description and saying what they can do! In my own experience, I find it useful to tell them what you have done/achieved. As an example - ok, so you conduct HSE training as part of your role, as and when required! What about the concept "you developed and implemented a programme of HSE training, which contributed to a XYZ% reduction in the company Accident/Incident Ratio?" Sell yourself! bleat about your successes/achievements to make yourself stand out, once you get that foot in the door (interview) then sell yourself even more. Plenty opportunities up in Scotland, especially Aberdeen area for QA, H&S, HSE, QHSE personnel. I have been selective, and done less than a dozen applications in last 4 months (QHSE Manager/Director roles, had 5 interviews, 2 unsuccessful, 2 outstanding, and short-listed for 1 (waiting on confirmed date of 2nd interview). Don't even have a H&S Diploma (altho' have Env Dip & Chartered Quality Professional Status along with 20+ years experience). In these tough times, must be doing something right? Be happy to review your CV if you PM me!

Thre was a consultation exercise undertaken some time ago among some IOSH members on the future of this forum and the subject of job postings was a major feature of that. No pronouncements yet by IOSH Management. I have received my SHP today and believe it to be the thinnest I have ever seen with regard to job vacancies. The argument regarding the publisher's income stream seems to be now very weak.

I feel IOSH have to support this and allow us to gets jobs on here to help people out - I have been both recruited and have been recruited off this site when it was permitted. I get why to some of the rational but people need support. As an organization with this type of coverage I feel IOSH should do something about it. SHP is thin these days and has been for 2 year ni on.

I agree, IOSH should do more to help their members. Prior to qualifying, I had 1 interview, and I've had interest in my C.V. thanks to a few members on this board, and have since been offered another interview. Sadly, I had to decline that as my Father passed away, so just as I was getting back to full mobility as a result of my foot operation, life handed out another curve ball. I'm still hopeful, still trying, and I do believe I'll be successful in my efforts, but we just have to keep the faith.
