Question asked yesterday...
Would it be safe to work from builders trestles which are only 1 mtr high from ground level fitted with twin staging boards? The area around the works is clear of any other objects and the ground underfoot is grass. The maximum height to reach would be approximately 2.5 mtrs.

What is
1. the work in question,
2. work duration,
3. number of persons working on trestle?
You already know the height, and the ground surface (which if possible should be boarded so ensure there is no sinking/ overturning)

IMO you would be OK if there were side/end barriers preventing a fall and if they were as close as possible to the boards so preventing the foot going down the side of the board - if you know what I mean?
WAH risk assessment applies.
Safe access as well.

The duration of the work would be about 3 days with 2 people, one at either end, fixing horizontal timber rails from the ground level onto concreted upright posts creating a decorative pergola.

bryan .
As suggested WAH still applies , assess the risk record ect .
I built retaining wall couple of years ago and we used the smaller what we call plasterers trestles , with young-man x 2 boards brilliant only stood about 700 mm high .
But we used from a well known hire firm tubing and clips to form a safety rail again x 2 which fixed securely to the underside of the young-man board frame .
So the platform height with the smaller trestles ( about 700 mm ) plus the reach would easy cover the 2.5 m needed, also the difference stable wise was great only had to use the first pin hole I think .
As said / base conditions / access/egress
We could have happily worked for weeks on that said wall .! only problem was we were on the measure I am afraid

No ties to this company, and I'm sure others do similar, but this sort of product might help you Bryan
Nice simple piece of kit. I'm sure if someone falls off a normal trestle and lands on their neck, the HSE would say it was reasonably practicable to hire this for 3 days instead.
