Hello,
Does a fall arrst system have to be checked every 6 months as it lifts people if they were to fall or every 12 months?
Help would be appreciated

Every 6 months, as it has the potential to be lifting or supporting people.

Hi - I think that they only have a five year use life span as well, but i'm not 100% on that one.

I would challenge the notion that fall-arrest equipment is 'lifting equipment'.
HSE Guidance and BS EN standards I'm aware of refer to "suitable intervals" and a 12 month cycle is suggested.
Many of you are quoting a 6 month figure. Is there a guidance source confirming this?

INDG367 quotes 6 monthly inspections, Ron. They also advise more frequent inspections if they are used in an environment that could cause problems.

The life use is dependant on Manufacturer, they will have different figures, but daily before and after use and harsh environments could bring them to a premature end anyway.

6 monthly checks, user checks before use, most manufacturers state 5 year life (with a 5 year shelf life prior to first use if stored correctly) Mike
