Just throwing this one out there really - What is your understanding and advice on the hazards associated with Tungsten trioxide?
Regards Paul.

No clue, but from what I can gather its a powder, so therefore I would imagine dust issues, inhallation of the dust, dont know if it would be a fire risk (like flour??). What it is being used for in your instance?

If you are unable to find any information from the supplier i.e. it is something that you are producing as a byproduct in a process then, presuming this is an inhalation (not ingestion) risk of dry dust fibres I believe there may be some evidence of bio-persistance in the lung from tngsten oxide particles/fibres, however general low hazard (maydepend on fibre/particle size and shape though)
Tungsten and compounds (as W) soluble compounds, insoluble compounds and others are covered in the HSE Publication EH40 and have designated workplace exposure limits.
Nanomaterials or other novel compounds may present additional risks.
Try a google scholar search for more detailed info

Look at this http://avogadro.chem.iastate.edu/MSDS/WO3.htm
It's not upto date but a start. If you are being supplied with this stuff you should be getting a current MSDS from the supplier
It's apparently used for:
• industry to manufacture tungstates for x-ray screen phosphors,
• for fireproofing fabrics
• in gas sensors.
• as a pigment in ceramics and paints.
• electrochromic (electrically switchable glass) windows
If you can be bothered go through the European Chemicals Agency website at: http://echa.europa.eu/web/guest
