Hi

I have been asked to provide a method statement for our consultants/project managers visiting construction sites. Does anyone have any examples of these that I could like at

Regards Julie

I guess we all get asked for some crazy things every now and again. A method statement for a site visit is right up there at the top of the scale of daftness though.
Assuming they can find their way from a-b, know their left from their right and which way is up, this would read something like:

i.Ensure appropriate PPE provided and worn beyond site office (safety footwear and hard hat & hi viz waistcoat as a minimum.
ii.Listen attentively to Site Induction
iii.Obey Site Rules and instruction from those in charge.

The World's gone mad.

Talk to your peoole who visit such areas and work from that info - Noting any special situations as a construction site that is in a sewer is completely different to a construction site that is not in a sewer

RICS publish a document "Surveying Safely" which is quite comprehensive but may give you some pointers as to what to consider. Members only access to their website I believe but probably some of your consultants/project managers will be members.

Visitors to construction sites must receive an induction talk from the PC. This should be a shorter version of what is given to site workers.

If this is adequate there should be no need for risk assessments for your employees.

How can you risk assess something you don't know.

Agree with PPE provision, report to Site Manager on arrival and take it from there.

Is it RAMS for work that is already been carried out as I, and other Consultants I work with, have to visit vacant sites pre-start to the works which requires different RAMS and have different hazards to be taken into account

Aye, but it's ridiculous to suggest such matters should be formally recorded in a Method Statement. The most hazardous and complex task undertaken will be parking the car!

In the past I've indicated that I would be working to the risk assessments / method statements of the client I was visiting on the site.

Allowed the PC's H&S bod to tick their form and allow me to go about my business after site induction.

Thanks for the replies.

I have already started this template and added:
Travel to and from the site
Moving plant and vehicles
Noise
Dust
Working at heights
Electrical systems etc
Contractor Inductions / site rules etc

Just wanted to see if there was any thing else out there.

Specify minimum basic PPE set?

We mandate anyone going to site has hi-vis, boots, hard-hat, gloves, glasses, earplugs. We don't mandate they wear (all of) them, but they have to take them, so they are available.
