I am struggling to find the AUG's for the carreers forum - im sure they are under my nose. could a moderator advise me please

(1) A person can post that they are looking for work and potential employers can contact them via the PM facility on the forum.

(2) IOSH offer discounted membership to unemployed members of £25. You may wish to contact membership at membership@iosh.co.uk for information on this.

(3) To say that IOSH do not want to help unemployed members return to the workforce is untrue. The Food and Drink Group have developed a "shadowing programme" to assist members get experience and get back to work

(4) I observe that although you are a registered user, there is no information as to what branch or group of IOSH you are attached to. Are both of you members of IOSH? Just wondering.

If trying to put forward a reasoned argument, would it not also be better to not use text speak?

It never ceases to amaze me, persons critising IOSH on some posts- yet on other posts they are offering their services!!

As previous posters have said IOSH groups do offer assistance, and some IOSH members have personally helped others along their chosen career path.

This is a well discussed subject, as many posters have already stated. I can state that IOSH does listen. Last November they ran a consultation exercise from 10th until 24th. I was privileged to be part of that exercise. If you look at my credentials (aside) you will see that my groups include "Careers consultation forum".

It was exactly that a small group exchanged ideas on forum about the careers foum. So far as I recall the following emerged
* Advertising could not be permitted where this would detract from IOSH funds, e.g. SHP etc
* Certain opportunities by their nature could not be filled by advertising in SHP and it was recommended these could be advertisied on the forum
* It was recognised that any system will be open to abuse and hence this would require careful monitoring/management by the moderators.
There may have been other issues that I do not recall and hence the above is open to correction, as necessary (I no longer have access to that forum).

At the end of the exercise IOSH agreed to give our recommendations consideration and refer to appropriate committees etc. There is unlikely to be any change before June 2012.

I doubt that we will see a return to the pre 2009 free for all, but hopefully we will see some change(s). I consider that IOSH should be given credit on this matter.
