Hi Learned Friends,
Something I have rarely dealt with is skip companies as in delivering and collecting.
If you employ a skip company what sort of regime of checking of safety/environmental competence would most people introduce ?
I am obviously expecting a Safety Pre-qual is required including Insurances etc but would most people be asking for waste management plans etc and would they expect to see waste transfer notes for the sites they go to.
Any advice greatly appreciated.

Waste Management Regs. require the owner of the waste to ask the questions, usually the client. To ensue all waste is controlled correctly by the waste company.
SWMP Regs require the SWMP once the project value reaches a set figure.

I would also expect to see evidence of weighbridge tickets and a periodical report (3 monthly) of waste streams taken from the site with recycling/ re-use percentages.

Hi
And monitor them on your site when they carry out their task.
We observed some shocking unsafe acts by the Driver such as clambering about in a skip full of glass and placing his head in locations that could easily be crushed!
Although they had the RA MS they did not advise the Driver of them.

Thank you very much thus far for all the great advice. But just to explain a little further, I am not talking about "US" being the premises owners that employ a skip company. I am talking "US" as the 3rd party who employ these various skip companies on behalf of the client and their premises. So I am referring to what safety checks we should be making for the said skip companies as we are the "PAYER" as it were.
