Undertaking risk assessments need not be a difficult or complicated process. The effort that you will need to put in will depend largely on the nature and scale of the hazards that you decide are present at the place of work. Your efforts in putting together the risk assessment should be in proportion to the level of risk, taking a close look at the work you do and deciding whether the way that you carry out that work could affect anyone’s health or safety. And if you do consider that someone could be harmed, introduce safeguards to ensure that the chances of it happening are eliminated or reduced to an acceptable level. You need to either do your own RA if you are competent or engage a competent assessor to undertake the assessment on your behalf. The RA must be carried out with care if it is to be effective. The risk assessment is required to be suitable and significant how can it be if I was to just supply a generic welding RA.

Brian There are so many different welding technologies that you could write a book about it. You need to tell us: What the welding process is - gas, MMA, MIG, TIG, Friction, Electron beam etc What the consumable is What the base material is Where it is taking place (indoors, outdoors etc). Then you will have narrowed it down into something manageable.
