Many years ago, in a former life, the directors of the company I then worked for sat this one-day, fairly high-level IOSH course. I can't find it on this website, would it be correct to say it no longer exists? Can anyone recommend something similar?

I have recently raised this with IOSH on the members forum. There are still providers of this course but each licensed provider has to develop their own material based on the IOSH syllabus. To find a provider it's best to look in the providers index http://www.iosh.co.uk/tr...o_on_an_iosh_course.aspx I do provide the course if you'd like to contact me!

I don't know whether you are an employee or consultant but either way tenn1svet I recommend that you develop your own course & add in any relevant material to the audience & their industry. Once you have it in place it is fairly easy to adapt.

Not often I disagee with you Victor but just this once! Its better the senior people hear this from an outsider - they would assume an insider is grinding their own axe. Its difficult to be a prophet in your own land.

I have sent all our senior management on this, organised and run by an external body. It very successfully shocked the life out of my lot and they even sometimes listen to me now! A good and worthwhile course. Walker I agree with you, if I had delivered this the senior managers just wouldn't have taken it in. Having it delivered externally, at an external venue so there is no escape, does seem to work.

Thanks all for your replies. Victor, thanks, sometimes we do that, but this time Walker & Iwthesm are spot on - sometimes an outside voice penetrates further, though I might have to compromise on the external venue! Lucy D thanks for the information, it's exactly what I was after. I'll be referring to that list when I choose - if you're anywhere near Leeds you'll be in with a shout if you're on it! :-) PVZ: Google, eh? Must remember that. :-) Seriously, that was one of the first things I did. Lots of courses, but I was confused by the lack of info on here, hence the clarification request. Didn't want to sell it as an IOSH course if had died a death. Thanks again.

Tenn There's Directing Safely, and Safety for Senior Execs. As Lucy says either has to be developed by the provider rather than being off the IOSH shelf.

Oh heck, and I thought I'd sorted it. Where can I find the syllabus' (syllabi? syllabub.....) to compare, contrast and choose the right one?

By far the best course of action here is to telephone IOSH on 01162573100 and the reception / switchboard person will put you through to the right staff member who can answer your specific questions. Rob Strange Chief Executive
