Good morning guys/gals I used to be an engineer. Part of my role was to carry out maintenence works for buildins and limit the chance of legionnaires. I have practical experience and after being in health and safety for 6 years and attending a specific course on this subject like to think I have the technical experience. The problme is the experience part....I have never detailed a Risk Assessment for Legionnaires and have been asked to do so by the building manager of one of our offices. The system itself is quite low risk> The is no water towers our unit that may be considered the higher risk catagory such as air con units etc. I have asked for a schematic drawing to identify any additional concerns of the installation but.... Has anyone goit an example of a Risk Assessment for legionnaires building management?? I am quite happy to go off and design my own vision of what one should detail however, I am not one for redesigning the wheel. Our organisation already has its own format, so I am really just picking the brains of others, just in case there is additional considerations. Thank you in advance

Thats worrying! Cost of info to comply - small Cost of it all going wrong because no info _ Could be horrendous! No brainer mate just tell them to pay for it as its one of the tools you require to make sure its all ok!

You can get sight of BS copies from most online local authority libraries. I just looked up on the web, but you will need a library card number to access the information. You cannot download the data though only read it. Hope that is of help.

Just been browsing the BS I mentioned above (I have access to online information services). This is an excellent Standards document. At £178 , why wouldn't your employer want to buy a copy? Such demonstration of stinginess doesn't bode well for an assessment which might come up with recommendations for remedial or improvement action! Good health and safety compliance costs a little. Poor health and safety compliance may cost more than the whole organisation can afford.
