Could anyone advise how you get into the renewable sector - it seems to be a catch 22 of "experience required".
I have worked multi site distribution and manufacturing and hold the nebosh certs (general and fire) and nvq4.
Any adice would be appreciated.

You would need experience gained in civils, electrical generation M&E service and maintenance or engineering construction to get a foothold

I got into it a few years ago through offshore oil and gas, if you're going into offshore renewables this is usually the standard route. I've side stepped back to oil and gas at the moment because the money is better. You are unlikely to get a job in offshore renewables without offshore experience.
As for onshore, the major hazards will be high voltage, working at height and lifting. If you come from an industry where these activities are standard such as power generation or civil construction then you're in with a shout.
Most renewable recruitment agencies recruit through jobsite.co.uk. Have a look a jobs on there and see what kind of experience they are looking for. If you don't have it, try and get it. Heightec run a renewable UK approved wind turbine climbing course in Kendal which is not only good fun, but might give you an edge if youre trying to get into wind farms.
Good luck
