Hi everyone, I've had the fantastic news that I've attained the NEBOSH Diploma, currently I'm Tech Iosh but it's my aim to become Chartered. Can anyone advise of the next steps I need to take? I was thinking I could contact membership and get my level changed to Grad but what would be the next steps? Barney#1

Hi Barney , Congratulations on the diploma , it is no easy feat .. In my opinion the next step would to continue and have your grade updated to GradIOSH and commence your Initial Professional Development as its the first step to moving towards CMIOSH . Then work on your portfolio based on the criteria and submit for approval For me the most important thing was to gain as much experience as possible in your chosen field as a lot of this will form your portfolio. I viewed CMIOSH as a goal and journey which came as a reward for just working on myself as a safety professional. Contact the membership team at IOSH , they were very helpful when i went through the GradIOSH to CMIOSH process.

Thank you Phil. Can you advise how long the IPD route will take?

No problem, It took me the best part of 18 months or that way , I didnt rush it , as I wanted it to be something to do use as a development tool as well as getting CMIOSH . I was balancing the portfolio with work responsibilities too . Then it dawned on me that what I was working at would suffice for a lot of the IPD criteria. There is an interview including a presentation to do as well which is not as daunting as everyone makes it out to be . I attended one of the IPD information sessions which are very good and really helped me with the development of the portfolio. Keep a log of your CPD on the MYIOSH section as well.

Contact Tracey Stearn and John Allen at IOSH, they will explain what you need to do.
