Hi all,I am booked on a Nebosh enviromental course at Harrogate College in April and thought I would get a head start by buying the study book as I did for the NGC and FC. I dont know whether there is a great demand for this book or none because I cant find anywhere with it in stock or any prospect of it being in stock soon. Also the course is presently undersuscribed and may not even run even though it is only £525 including the exam. I am employed in the Care Sector so I dont strictly need this qualification but I thought it would improve my ability to be an all round H/S Advisor. I also intend to go it alone in 3 to 4 years so the more knowledge I can get the better. Have you people who have completed this course found it really useful in carrying out your role as a H/S professional or trainer and an advantage when applying for a new position which is also a route I may go ? Its nice to be back on here after a couple of years abscence

If this is the certificate level rather than the Env diploma (which given the cost I suspect it is the Certificate course) I did this last year, it has only limited use in my current role, but I did it more to gain knowledge and also help with future career prospects. It is a nice course and not to onerous to do. If you PM me your e mail I will send you some revision material I have that would be useful. You could possibly do this as distance learning and then just need to find a local exam centre, if the course doesn't run, though the price seems very reasonable.

There is a book from the same people that do them for NEBOSH H&S ( to save you using google :- act associates). I have nothing to do with these people. £35 ish.

Thank you Chris,I have looked on Act ,a bit steep at £44 including postage. I will wait and see if the course fills up before I buy it

Well given the recession and the relatively high cost of training I am so surprised that I remain the only candidate for this course,I guess environmental training is not high on peoples priority list

Environmental training is actually very popular at the moment so I'm surprised the course has only you booked on it, I'm guessing it's not running. Depending on what you want to get from the course long term there are a few options. Have a look at the IEMA Associate Certificate, it's longer than the NEBOSH course but does also give you Associate Membership of IEMA which can be useful if you're going out on your own later. There are a number of companies that can provide this and I'm happy to provide details if you want them.
