It just goes to show that stupidity and ignorance are alive and well all over the world!
I did take a sharp intake of breath when I saw it.

Brilliant,
Obviously one of the rarer 'extreme' train spotters.

It's not on the news - if you look at the BBC page you'll see that it says "Page last updated at 16:58 GMT, Friday, 14 May 2010 17:58 UK" - ie two years ago.
What happens is there's something that is on the news (in this case I'd bet it was http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-17770281 ) and people look at that, and it gets automatically linked to whatever other video the BBC have tagged with 'lucky escape' 'near miss' and 'nearly killed'. Those videos come up at the side of the screen. Train spotters are comic figures, so anyone looking at the drag racer clip clicks on the train spotter clip, and suddenly a two-year-old video is the second most watched video on the site.
'Train womans lucky escape' and 'Boris Johnsons lorry near miss' are also in the top ten videos, and they haven't been updated in three years.

I don't think it was such a close shave, the guy was on the train platform, albeit, oblivious to the express coming from the opposite direction. As a former train driver I have experienced this type of thing all too often. I also think the express train should have sounded his horn earlier and well before reaching the platform.

Look again Ray, he is at the pedestrian level crossing beyond the end of the platform, there is no delineation between him and the train. I put him at no more than 6 inches from the train, I'd say it was close......
