I've been a Roof Sheeter / Cladder for about 13 year now but have decided to go for a NEBOSH general cert.
I've been told the course is over 13 weeks , 2 nights a week 3hrs a night . I've just bought the NEBOSH general book to try and get me a few steps ahead before I start it in a few month .
I understand that I will be learning quite a bit from this book whilst on the course but is there any main topics they like u to know / study . I've heard that the course is pretty intense so Just trying to get as much info on contents of the course as I can to get me going .

You have stated you have been a roofer cladder is it not worth you doing the NEBOSH construction cert instead
This can be done over a couple of weeks then revise ready for your exams ?
I can forward you passed exam papers from the construction tests as this may give you some ideas of the questions that will appear
PM me if you want these I will forward them onto you
Please note they are few years old and will not take into account the CDM regs

It's good to know section 2 of the health and safety at work act and the diagram for HSG65. I printed them off and stuck them up on the fridge so I'd have to look at them everytime I went for a beer, cup of tea etc.
Read as many old examiners reports as you can as the same questions often come up. They not only tell you the answers, but how the examiners want you to answer the questions.
And learn your acronyms COSHH, PUWER etc
Don't worry, the subject matter looks boring in the book, especially the first few chapters, but if you have a good trainer he will make it come alive and make it stick.

Thanks Alan. It would be a lot easier for me to do the construction cert but was told had to do General first. Also would I need to buy a NEBOSH Construction book or would all relevant info be in the general

...you can buy them from NEBOSH's website I think theyre about £7 each. I believe they are copywrited so they're not supposed to be photocopied. So our trainer may or may not have photocopied a load of them and gave them out to us. Also, we definitely did not agree amongst the class to each buy a different examiners report, copy them and swap them out between the group.

....go for general cert first of all. It's more useful and allows you to search for jobs outside of construction. The fist part of the couse is the same for both so if you want to get construction at a later stage you only need to complete the second part

Scotty if it gives you piece of mind i was a plant operator and went for the nebosh gen cert. Best thing i ever did, if you message me you e-mail address i have revison notes for both the NGC1 and NGC2 exams.
Also try healthandsafetytips.co.uk very good information on exam and revision techniques
