Been on the plumbing tools for 21 years, had enough of working on my knees for a living, time to get out before my back/hands/knees start to give me some real trouble...

Got a Nebosh general cert a few years ago and now I want to expand on my qualifications.

Can anyone recommend a good trainer Derby/Notts way? has to be block type training, I don't like home study as I prefer to have a trainer to ask stupid questions at!

So I get the construction cert, what other qualifications should I get for a career in construction safety? PASMA, IPAF? go on some IOSH courses?

Want to stick to the construction side of safety, try and get a advisor role at some point. Or is a advisor role asking to much with my lack of experiance? what do you think should be a good starting role? safety officer?

Career advise please!

Hi Dizz , I'm in a similar situation at the minute like u were . Just a bit advice if u could .
I've been a Roof Sheeter / Cladder for about 13 year now but have decided to go for a NEBOSH general cert.
I've been told the course is over 13 weeks , 2 nights a week 3hrs a night . I've just bought the NEBOSH general book to try and get me a few steps ahead before I start it in a few month .
I understand that I will be learning quite a bit from this book whilst on the course but is there any main topics they like u to know / study . I've heard that the course is pretty intense so Just trying to get as much info on contents of the course as I can to get me going .
Thanks

Hi Scotty
The General Certificate is fine when you get your head around it.The course will cover all of the topics because when the exams come round you will generally get a question on all off the topics. Most people find the management the hardest paper. I have started my diploma distant learing and must admit it is up a few levels so much reading. The thing that helped me was don't leave it too late to start studying or you could get bogged down when the hazard learning begins.
Thanks

Although I didn't do my construction certificate with them (although I did my NGC , Fire Cert. and Diploma with them) North Notts College in my opinion were Worksop were spot on.
