Anyone have any idea what is happening on the above?
Essentially, it's a Private Members Bill proposing that it be a legal requirement for mains powered (with battery back up) smoke detectors to be installed in residential let properties.
Last I hear was that it was 'talked out' during its second reading in November 2010. However, we've recently been informed by a solicitor from an industry body, that it passed it's second reading in April this year. HE went further to say that it will come into force in April 2013. However, I thought it had to pass through House of Lords first before it could go for Royal Assent.....
I've trawled the Parliament website, but the best I can find is that a revised 2nd reading was provisionally scheduled for 27th April this year. However, this date is actually after the solicitor came to his conclusions (a little ESP perhaps...?)
Any heads up from the more enlightened would be most grateful.

This bill never made it past it's first reading and is now dead. Checked the Parlimentary website to confirm this.

Your solicitor is quite wrong. I guess he must be getting it confused with something else.

That's what I thought. Thanks for the confirmation.
