Hi I've been thinking about using the Olympics as a theme for a safety poster. Since the Olympic motto is Swifter, Higher, Stronger I thought I'd use: Safer, Healthier, Surer as the strap line that we all seem to need these days. It'll be a Poster trying to encourage people to report adverse events on the new on-line system. They've been shown but this may just catch the eye and maintain the profile.
I've found the London 2012 font that's freely available and the ODA events I've been to have all encouraged the use of their branding for health and safety so I don't see any issues there.
Any one any other ideas? What about something when the Paralympics begin, although this could get a bit tasteless if I'm not careful. Their strap line is ‘Spirit in Motion’ so it’ll be harder to adjust to H&S. It used to be ‘Mind, Body, Spirit’ which may be more amenable to an H&S spin.

I'm not sure I would want to go with the second part about the paralympics. Any reference to accidents and what may happen would not be a good parallel. But their strap line could become, safety in mind.
But I admit this does not say to me use the online system.
All the best with this and let us know how it worked later in the year.

Careful - could be copyright issues
The Olympics people are paranoid about anyone using their Name, Logo, etc etc
I suggest you seek legal advice before going too far down the road of using anything of theirs.

Ditto what Alan says; be very, very careful - I have worked there for the past three years & experienced the paranoia first hand

Personally, I'd be wary of the safety message being obscured by the Olympic branding. People are fickle. Effective communication is a tricky business.

Thanks Chris I like that idea for a strap line. I'm certainly NOT going to use the paralympics to show what could go wrong if you don't take safety seriuosly. Anyone who got that message from my post emphasises just how difficult communication is.
I've seen several ODA presentations on safety at the Olympic Park, and I've always heard the message loud and clear that ALL their learnings are free for others to use.
So if that's wrong then I just give up trying to communicate, and let people guess what I mean because that seems to be what has happened.
The fact that they put the London 2012 font on their web site and allow it to be downloaded says more than words about what London 2012 feel about using the Olympics to help health and safety.
That said I'm well aware of how jealously the Olympic movement guards the use of the rings and the Paralymic's three agitos. I'm not using them. As with any endeavour there are always good reasons not to do something. But I won't let that stop me trying.

Interesting post.
What about using the circles in a Venn Diagram style!
If it looks similar but is different and they cannot claim to have copyright on the Venn Diagram.
