Please can anyone help?
We are wanting to deliver health and safety training for members of our Safety Committee which consists of 2x union reps, Operational Managers, a Director and a tenant board member. The only training I can find is 2 days long and is very union orientated. We want something about 2 hours covering roles & responsibilities, the function and expectations of the members.
I have obtained a copy of HSG263 Involving your workforce in H&S which is based on safety reps & safety committee regs 1977 & H&S consultation with employees regs 1996 as a starting point but just wondered if anyone had a decent briefing we could use?
Any assistance would be most welcome.
Thanks in anticipation
Dave

Hi Dave I assume you're the H&S Adviser? In the same situation I found the only sensible thing was to train them myself. For reps doing basic workplace safety; slips, trips, lighting, housekeeping etc it was quite straightforward and I also created a prompt sheet and reporting sheet. For those who support H&S committee through technical specialisms it was just a case of letting them know what to report on. The committee itself runs to a set agenda, which is based upon the H&S Policy and organisational risk assessment. Keith

Wynn80136 - maybe you are trying to find a training course that suits all the members - when it is probable that they each require something different. For example the Director & Senior managers would probalby benefit from something like "Directing Safely" or similar. The operational managers probably need something like "Managing Safely" or similar and the TU reps will likely benefit form attending their own unions safety training. Whilst all the above have their base in the same legislation - how this applies to each group will be slightly different. I think you should be considering what the different "levels" of the membership needs rather than trying to give them all the same.
