This topic has been discussed before...there is no legal standard that I'm aware of for the ratio of h&s staff to workers. It all depends on the nature of the project, which can differ is size, risk and other factors. The PC needs to determine what is the suitable level of site supervision and monitoring in line with day to day activities.

Hi ya,

As per the above post, there is nothing set in stone legally with regards to the ratio, and it depends on the size of the job and Client requirements. Previously I have worked on a small site where the Client requested I be there all the time and have a co-ordinator too.

But on site, normally there will be at least one site based safety person (Depending on the size of the project) or one visiting weekly. Apart from a safety person, nearly all \contract Manager/Project Managers/ Supervisors/ Foremen should have attended SSSTS or SMSTS so they have knowledge on the subject.

Hi Cornelius

It's also heavily dependent on the competence of site managers, supervisors and operatives.
