I would be grateful for advice from any practitioners in the grocery retail industry on their risk assessment conclusions about lifting, carrying and shelf stacking during a normal pregnancy. My feeling in the specific instance I am advising is that the employee herself is best placed to request a change in work if and when it becomes needed. Please PM if you wish. Thanks in advance David

Hi David, Agree with your thoughts, work with the employee and make adjustments as time dictates / they require. Be aware that some flexability will be required in terms of breaks and type of work, whilst checkout work maybe more appropriate than working deliveries, pregnant emoployees might not want to be seated all the time. Do not automatically assume the pregnant employee is aware of the increased risk of conducting manual handling whilst pregannt, some additional training would be advisable with the employee reporting any issues immediately.
