Rank: Super forum user		I use linkedin and find it very useful. It costs me nothing and acts as a sort of on-line CV. You can put on it whatever you feel is relevant. You do get a fair bit of contact from employment agencies, but I don't see that as a bad thing although others might. In summary, it's free, it doesn't do any harm and it allows you to put what you want into the public domain, so go for it I say.

Rank: Super forum user		Some discussions are very US-oriented but it's very interesting to see how OSHA-controlled safety works as well as other jurisdictions too. Quite a strong S Hemisphere presence. Also some good jobs appear on some of the forums.

Rank: Super forum user		Yes Zimmy I am on there, I got the role I am in - or about to leave as of Friday next :-( by being approached by a recruitment agency via LinkedIn - this is the only really useful thing I have got from it. When I really need something (now) there does not seem to be any offers etc. typical!! As others have said its free, easy to use and update, and does get you out into the public domain for others to find. One criticism would be the amount of jobs advertised without a location you click on them to find they are in the USA - fine if you want to move home but otherwise a little annoying; maybe I need to look at the groups I am a member of? As they say you have to be in it to win it. Stuart

Rank: Super forum user		I think the job search is pretty straight forward Stuie. Select jobs from the dropdown menu, then select advance then put in your search keywords i.e. health and safety, then define your desired location and distance then search. I never see anything other than UK vacancies when searching.

The former can be managed by email / security settings within your profile. I'm on Linked In, but rarely get time to actually check it (I expect this would be different if I wasn't in a stable job). Like all social media, it can be a great resource for networking, though I've not had chance / inclination to exploit it's potential thus far.

Rank: Super forum user		I use in to put my CV 'out there' to supplement CV-Library (other social media and recruitment websites are available). But primarily I use it as a live business card holder. I 'connect' with my suppliers, customers and IOSH colleagues and can easily stay in touch when any of us hop jobs. Not had any spam, you get what you sign up for in my experience. Note that I have changed my e mail address but the feedback information from the forums I have subscribed keep going to the old address. Not sure what would happen if I subscribe to a new thread having changed address.

Rank: Forum user		I find it very useful in the groups. As a PP mentioned you do get a flavour for how the other jurisdictions operate and some challenging discussions. There does seem to be a right few discussions started which are weakly veiled means to let the OP show how flipping clever they are/sell you something but hey its free if you don't like it get a refund. I especially like discussions started by this guy Phil La Duke he and I seem to have been separated at birth when it comes to how we feel about Zero Harm. His blog http://philladuke.wordpress.com/
