After having a telephone interview (direct employer, not agency) how long would you expect to wait before hearing back from them? After these interviews, they want to set up face to face interviews on an informal basis.

Well, I got the answer to my own question just now, by being rejected. The face to face interviews were supposed to be competency based, which I'm pretty gutted about to be honest, as I wasn't given an opportunity to demonstrate my competency.

Sorry to hear that Nikki - dont be disheartened too much, times are hard and employers can be very very choosy indeed and may well reject based upon trivial things as a means of thinning out the candidates; this may well mean that someone is rejected for the 'wrong' reasons. Stuart

Sorry to hear that Nikki, telephone interviews are flawed in my opinion as they don't give the chance for personality and presentation to truly come through to the prospective employer. Hopefully something will come up soon for you, sans the telephone interview stage :)

Thanks chaps. :) it's nice to have some support. I can understand telephone interviews if you're likely to be working far away from head office or similar, but when the firm is local to you, it seems a bit odd.

When telephone interviews are required the solution is to tell them what they want to hear - and when you land the job show them what they don't want to see. Never failed for me so I pass the tip on graciously. Jon

They were a rubbish firm anyway and didn't deserve you. There will be a better job coming soon.
