We currently use FM 200 as the suppression medium in our 4 computer rooms and the cylinders are now ready for pressure testing . - This is a very expensive exercise to be carried out on a regular basis at around £7000 per cylinder. Do colleagues utilise any other method of suppression or just rely on their fire risk assessment to give reasons not to install such a system, or do you just bite the bullet and use FM 200 Thanks SBH

We have an argonite system ourselves - I can give you the details of the people who do our pressure testing if you pm me.

We are installing hypoxic air (HA) systems when the current suppression systems are coming to the end of their shelf life. The HA system we use doesn't reply on cylinders - no no nasty pressure test surprises - as it converts ambient atmosphere into nitrogen before pumping it into the protected space. The nitrogen displaces the O2 and a sophisticated monitoring system maintains a level of 15% O2, at which concentration level, combustion can not be sustained but staff can still breath. Backed up by a aspirating fire detection system and a number of beefy CO2 extinguishers to cover any breakdowns, we are well happy with the change to HA
