Can anybody point me in the right direction regarding the maintenance and inspection of roof restraint equipment such as mansafe or running lines?
It's my opinion that a running line system should be inspected (and certificated) annualy but is there any regulation or standard that specifically states this type of equipment should be maintained/inspected at periods prior to this as well?

Does it not come under fall protection, I personally would do it 6 monthly where persons are involved, owing to the fact it is external for all weather conditions

I think you need to be clear whether its work restraint or fall protection. If its an existing system then the manufacturers instruction manual should clearly specify what needs testing and how frequently.

i found it easier to get a firm in to provide the inspection and recomendations

PVinny. I'm not certain if it is used for restraint or arrest. Would the inspection periods be different?
Rob M. The insurance company currently provides a 12 monthly inspection. I am of the opinion the company have a duty to inspect periodically as well but i'm not sure where i can find it in black and white.
Lawlee. That would be my thinking too but i was then wondering who would be deemed competent to do the 6 month inspection.
Guru. Cheers for the TNG info. I can't find anything specific to show it in black and white in there.

We have a uni line installed within our factory(horizontal wire). This is located internally and the anchorages are inspected by the supplier on an annual basis. They inspect these to BS EN 795:1997 and BS 7883:2005.

The suppliers normally can provide training on internal inspection at more regular intervals, a bit like inspection of the harnesses. I think that the types you are referring to are restraint, thus preventing a fall
