Hi All I have just started my Diploma and are 4 weeks in,so far so good, does this satisfy my CPD while I am completing this ? I was also wondering would completing and passing unit A entitle me to the full NeboshFire certificate instead of the unit I currently have after attending a passing the Fire course,my NGC was taken 6 years ago

the NEBOSH unit A does not entitle you to the NEBOSH fire Certificate its a seperate course

"I was also wondering would completing and passing unit A entitle me to the full NeboshFire certificate instead of the unit I currently have after attending a passing the Fire course,my NGC was taken 6 years ago" Hi I realise that, that is why I attended the Nebosh Fire Certificate FC1 and FC2!!,passed but passed the NGC1 over 5 years ago so was not entitled to the full certificate but only the unit. To get the full certificate I would have to re-do the NGC1 and pass. If I pass Unit A of the diploma my logic is that I should be entitled to apply for the full certificate given the range of knowledge needed for the Unit is a little broader than the NGC1 ,If Nebosh insist on my still attending the NGC1 it would seem a little unfair

Hi 10Mark, In relation to the first half of the question, I awarded CPD 3 points for each unit A,B,C & D modules of the diploma as this was part of my personal development plan. A reflective account supported each of these and it has not been disputed by iosh. Regards AW

YES is the simple answer. You can use a pass at NEBOSH (and only the NEBOSH) Diploma unit A as a substitute for the NGC1 element of your NEBOSH Fire Certificate providing they are within 5 years of each other. One word of warning however. The Dip A is level 6 and far higher than NGC1 at level 3. BUT, here is the downside. By using NEBOSH Dip A as a substitute will only get you a basic pass mark (45 I think), so it may impact on a Credit or Distinction award. The info is on the NEBOSH web page somewhere. Sorry no time to look. Crack on.

Hi Betta thank you for your relevant information,I achieved distinction level marks on the FC1/2 so I was hoping achieving the A unit would be enough to gain me an overall distinction Very clever of Nebosh.wont deny you the full certificate but will not acknowledge the achievement in attaining Unit A.I guess I will have to pay the extra to re-sit the NGC1 which is a much lower qualification so I can achieve the distinction.Nebosh must have its money.Total ripoff :-)

Maybe or maybe not. By my reckoning the distinction is 210 points in total, so if your FC1 and FC2 added together are 165+ then 45 is all you need. Likewise a credit is 180, so FC1 and FC2 need to be at least 135+. I would check the figures with NEBOSH first just to be sure.

My collegue and I have been caught up in this as all. We both have Diplomas ( he also has an MSc) but because by the time the course is actually run it will be just over 5 years since I sat my diploma I am told I need to resit part 1 of the NEBOSH certificate. As we are both full time safety advisors engaged in CPD schemes I am at a loss to see the point in this requirement. The only benefit seems to be with NEBOSH.
