Wondering if you could advise. We have an employee who has been off sick due to a medical condition. He is not fit for normal duties but has been signed fit by his GP (which he has a FIT note to state this) to work on admin tasks. He has 2 GP appointments per week so has requested to work from home on these days.

Will the scope of the FIT note suffice or do we need to consider a risk assessment to be carried out at his home? I personally think an RA is not required, rather a letter to the chap confirming the situation, guidance on DSE and that all work should be carried out in accordance with the scope of the FIT note...

Would welcome your views...

We’d do a homeworking agreement under which he and his line manager are clear what he is expected to do at home. This will also include limited a risk assessment to cover things like DSE. (there is no need to visit the home in most circumstances). It of course depends on what they will be doing. If it was routine office work this should suffice. If he has specific issues then a home visit might be necessary
