Where does CMIOSH sit in the National Qualifications Framework? Any ideas? Or does it, for some reason, sit outside the NQF?

CMIOSH is not a qualification.

Clairel is correct but I will try and offer a bit more of an idea where it sits 'alongside' the NQF.

I completed the NVQ level 4 in OSH back in 2004 and that sat at level 4 on the NQF. I think the diploma sat at level 6 and both were routes to MIOSH before chartered membership came in.

I think now its level 5 and 6 NVQ and as for the diploma I'm not sure if its still 6 or higher, however both are routes to Grad IOSH and eventually, following the system to CMIOSH.

Hello,
For the life of me I can't remember where I saw it confirmed, but the qualifications required to make anyone eligible for Chartered does 'map' to level 6 on the NQF.

http://www.iosh.co.uk/me...ualification.aspx#UKwide

•National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety #
•International Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health#
# These qualifications are accredited and rated on the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF) at Level 10 which is comparable to NQF/QCF Level 6 in England, Wales and Northern Ireland

The above will get you to GradIOSH. To get to CMIOSH from there is IPD/ Peer Review.

If you go NVQ route, then it's NVQ6 or higher, then I believe IPD/ Open Book/ Peer Review (although I stand to be corrected on that one).

But qualifications in themselves do not get you CMIOSH. Therefore you cannot equate CMIOSH to any level of qualification. CMIOSH demonstrates a level of knowledge and experience.

Precisely. That's why I provided the route to Grad, then highlighted the further experience/ knowledge based route to CMIOSH. Without Grad level qualifications, I believe that it is not possible to progress to CMIOSH anyway, so essentially level 6 on the NQF is still relevant.

You will have a few people panicking at that post, it is the NVQ5 which gets you to Grad - then it is the open assessment and upon successful completion of that and the CPD audit - peer review.

I 'think' the NVQ5 sits at level 6 on the NQF.
