Anyone in the Industry able to recommend a decent vacuum cleaner for routine clean up the residual dust from floors, benches etc. not captured by LEV?

Ron,
Always had a preference for using Festool Mobile dust extraction units; decent enough for cleaning up the residual dusts with good attachments etc. and also doubled as a good unit for various handtools that were difficlut to link into the main LEV system.
Usually between £300-£500

Ron,
I can only speak as a amateur woodworker
Festool are good but pricey
Google Axminster power tools - decent selection there.
Personally I use a hacked down Dyson (the one with the "pet" filter) that I found on a skip !!!
All you need is something big enough but with a decent outlet filter so you don't blow out the fine dust (sorry egg sucking lesson I'm sure!)

Previous employer had 11,000 square meter joinery shop. Spill over from LEV extraction was dealt with by a couple of "Tiger-Vac" units, both single and 3 phase units and all ignition/explosive proof.
Seemed like very reliable units.

I have 5 workshops and my cleaners all use "Henrys". Had no complaints.
Also have 4 pottery workshops where again we use Henrys - no probs there either

A suitable vacuum cleaner would need to be appropriately filtered on its exhaust to prevent fine particles being ejected - similar to those used in Asbestos situations. Domestic vacuum cleaners of the "Henry" type are not suitable - try a Tindall beam on the exhaust when in use to spot why!

An extension fitted to the LEV is best.
HEPA filtration on industrial vac's is what they used to ask for. Though having looked at the HSE website recently that reference seems to have been removed. Yet another change.
I've seen all sorts used. Something is better than nothing in my opinion.
