Hi all Any recommendations for a severely cash-strapped public sector organisation that wants to improve its accident recording and reporting system? I've used Optima OSHENS at a previous employer and was impressed but the new place has no funds to spare for such an investment :( Any thoughts would be most appreciated. Many thanks.

Also from a strapped for cash public body I've been using AWare. Although it can be a little clunky its cheap, reliable and maintains my records and promps me to follow up.

Hi, I use TAM, The Task Manager, it’s great for large or small companies, it will automatically email you when action is required, you can view all locations. A consultant can also view all their clients information and be emailed when action is overdue/required. It stores all documentation for h & s. and It’s very cost effective & affordable for any company. You can investigate and report all accidents on this software, it costs me £3 per month and my clients/companies pay £1 per user per month

Hi All, Info Exchange would be worth a look. I know they work with a number of authorities and are competitive on costs.

Ask your iT section if they have 'Sharepoint' or a similar internet based system already in place as our H&S team have built a good bespoke system via SP along with the iT team at very little cost as SP was already being paid for

Like Bob I went to IT and within an afternoon had a sharepoint system working for trial. After a few short trials we decided not to go down the fully electronic route for practical reasons. The lads and lassies doing the incident recording could be beside a pool, on the street, in a park etc so were going to have to write it down anyway as there was no practical tablet solution. We happened to have networked photocopiers, so IT put an accident reporting email address in all the copiers so when someone copied the completed forms it just sent us a PDF. This worked very well, had no extra admin burden for staff retyping forms (so they did it when asked) and answered my big concern which was getting the info and diagrams quickly to give them the once over.
