Hi guys,
Im looking for some help, maybe a solution to a problem i have at one of my satellite sites.
I have a site with one warehouseman/forklift Driver and 4 office staff. The guy in the warehouse spends most of his day on his own getting on with his work at hand. I reckon he is pretty much a lone worker.
We are looking at a suitable way of looking after him from a perspective of him having an accident and no one being aware that this has happened.
Currently we have him phoning upto the office every 30 minutes as a check in call. However as you can probably see this is not very good for productivity for the warehouse or the office.
Has anyone else got any suggestions for a better way that has worked for you in the past that i could investigate as an option.
Regards Neil Cox

There are a number of very good systems available from the internet depending on what you want have a lookk there for starters, this is not a slippy shoulder but good advice for the system you may need and cost expected

I work for the Wildlife Trusts - a number of the Trusts use a system supplied by Skyguard, which they seem to like. There is also an a number of automated mobile phone based systems you can use if you have a good signal, I think Bracknel Forest Council have a system, I'm not sure but they might allow people to 'buy' the service support? Just a couple of options

Our situation is very similar. It concerned me too when I took over this position.
So I monitored it and found that in every day our storeman/ FLT driver/ dogs body... is contacted or observed at least twice an hour by office staff going downstairs to either have a smoke break, ask him something or look for things in the warehouse.
And if it is a quiet day and few people in office I make a point of going down at least twice an hour and checking. Also we share a yard with another tenant who operates constantly in the yard and is another pair of eyes.
So consequently my assessment was that there was no real problem!
My point is, have you considered just how often he is contacted during the day without you realising it?

Thanks for the input guys.
I'll go and monitor the situation on site for a couple of days i think. It could be that you are correct Roshqse and the problem isn't as the onsite manager has described it.
Im also considering a motion detector if there is still an issue.
